The Top 4 Breastfeeding Resources Apps

Top 5 Apps for Breastfeeding Your Baby

Hold onto your hooters, ladies…

You have probably downloaded some mediocre breastfeeding chart apps.  They are somewhat akin to your nipple shield- useful, but not terribly impressive.  Some innovative apps with valuable breastfeeding resources are out now.  It is time for us to take the beauty of breastfeeding your baby and put a techno-spin on it.

Moms Pump Here Nursing Room Locator App

The Nursing Room Locator App uses GPS to guide a nursing goddess to one of over 2000 lactation rooms to breastfeed and breast pump.  This app connects you to these lactation lounges across the United States and abroad.  Moms Pump Here screens locations for your safety, and breastfeeding moms can leave reviews about their experiences at the nursing locations.  In my opinion, this is the most valuable of all breastfeeding resources available.   For the complete list of features, click here.   Moms Pump Here offers a free version and a “pro” version.  I am not usually an app-purchaser, but this one is an exception.  The entirety of benefits far exceeds the $1.99.  Should you choose the free app, you can still access the “pro” features on the Moms Pump Here website.
Cost: Free or $1.99 (depending on which version)

 LactMed App

Are you concerned about which medications could affect your nursing baby?  LactMed contains over 450 drug records and includes information such as maternal levels in breast milk, blood levels in babies, potential effects to the baby and to your milk supply. It also gives you an index indicating the level of compatibility of the drug with breastfeeding and alternate drugs to consider.

Baby Nursing/Breastfeeding App by Sevenlogistics

There are a lot of trackers out there.  This one is the most complete breastfeeding chart.  The timer tracks your feedings and graphs them by most recent, averages, and cumulative totals.  This makes watching for trends a snap.  Taking the data that you input, it gives you a rough idea of how much you have fed your baby.  You can even capture pictures, video, and audio to see your baby grow over time and log special moments.  This app’s GPS monitors where, when, and for long you were breastfeeding your baby.  The growth chart tracks your baby’s length, weight, and head circumference and displays the data on easy-to-read charts.  Get this…you can sync it with your spouse or pediatrician!  This is one of the most comprehensive breastfeeding resources imaginable.
